About the client and the brief
Ewelina from Skawina near Kraków knew exactly what she wanted: a gym at the house, not in the garage, not in the basement — a separate building in the garden that looks good and allows year-round training.
The technical requirements were equally precise: full-height glazing across the front wall, doors integrated into the glazed run, and a module suited to uneven ground — which led to the decision to use a screw-pile foundation rather than a concrete pad.
Design and glazing
The GymBox 6×4 m is defined by its front wall: almost the full 6 m width is glazed — two outer tilt windows + fixed glazing + doors integrated into the same run. The result: maximum daylight inside and direct eye contact with the garden during training.
The cladding is finished in natural-oak timber slats — a warm, organic material that sits beautifully against the backdrop of the pine forest beyond the boundary fence. The dark aluminium frames around the glazing add contrast and reinforce the modern feel of the building.
Wall lanterns either side of the entrance finish off the evening mood.
Screw-pile foundation
The plot needed an individual approach — rather than pouring a concrete slab, we used screw piles. Pile count and spacing were set on site after a survey. The advantages: no excavation, no concrete cure time, and the ability to install in any weather.
Training equipment
Ewelina specified the space around strength training, with no dedicated cardio zone:
- Multi-function machine (cables + squat + Smith + pull-up station)
- Adjustable multi-position bench
- Olympic barbell + collars
- Full Olympic plate set
- Dumbbell set with rack
- Cable attachment set
- Resistance bands and training mats
Puzzle rubber flooring and mirrors — installed by the client herself. A practical solution that lets the layout flex to her preferences and keeps cost down.
Building services
- 3.5 kW air conditioner — heating + cooling, Wi-Fi control from a mobile app
- Bespoke electrical installation (lighting, equipment power, AC)
- Internal LED lighting with adjustable colour temperature
Lead time
10 weeks from contract signing — the standard timeline for a non-standard module with timber slat cladding and bespoke glazing.
