Why darts and a gym are a natural pairing
Darts is a sport that demands focus, precision and regular practice. Like the gym — you train solo, without the crowd, on your own terms. Combining both in one garden module is the logical step for anyone who takes activity seriously — and wants a space in the garden they actually want to walk out to.
We configure GymBox with a darts corner so that neither function eats into the other. Darts has its required distances, the gym has its zones — and both fit from an 8×3 m (24 m²) module upward.
Dimensions you can’t shorten
Darts is a sport with precise standards. Before we draw the layout, these numbers are non-negotiable:
| Parameter | Dimension | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Throw distance (oche) | 2.37 m | From the wall with the board to the throw line |
| Bullseye height | 1.73 m | From the floor |
| Minimum zone width | 2.0 m | Comfortable — 2.5 m |
| Clearance behind the board (soundproofing) | 0.5 m | Sound absorber, catchring or wooden frame |
➜ In an 8×3 m module the darts corner takes ~3 m × 2.5 m at one end of the module ➜ The remaining ~19–20 m² is a full strength zone ➜ In a 9×3 or 7×5 module — the zones are independent, passage between them is free

The board is mounted on the gable wall (or side wall), the throw line marked with a mat or built-in threshold. The wall around the board finished with an absorbent wooden frame — no missed dart will land on bare steel.
Darts-corner finishing — what we include as standard
➜ Absorption frame around the board (cork-faced wood, MDF, sisal) — 80 × 80 cm or 100 × 100 cm ➜ Catchring — a soft sisal or bristle ring that catches darts that miss the board ➜ Directional lighting above the board — important so the bullseye is well lit without a player shadow ➜ Throw line — non-slip mat or threshold set into the floor ➜ Bluetooth speaker — a standard element, a nice extra during games
Electronic board (soft-tip) or bristle (steel-tip) — the choice is yours.
Flooring options in the darts zone
| Flooring | Pros | Cons |
|---|---|---|
| PVC sheet | Cheap, easy to replace, soft underfoot | Less premium look |
| SPC vinyl plank | Premium look, easy to clean | Harder on knees |
| Rubber 10 mm | Non-slip, kind to feet | Harder to clean |
➜ In the strength zone — 15 mm rubber (standard) ➜ In the darts zone — we recommend vinyl plank or PVC for standing comfort
Who’s it for?
➜ You play darts as an amateur and want regular practice without leaving home ➜ You host friends and want your own “sports bar” by the house ➜ You have children or grandchildren — darts is a family activity, not just for adults ➜ You’re building a house and looking for a garden idea that actually gets used
