Every manufacturer says their product is brilliant. So instead of telling you ourselves, we asked the people who actually own one — owners who have had a container gym for one, two, three years. We asked the blunt questions: what worked, what do you regret, what would you change?
All five owners below are customers of ours in Poland, where we have been building since 2017. The modules come from the same workshop in Pawłów as the Gym Boxes we deliver to the UK and Ireland.
Here’s what they told us.
Marek, near Zegrze (north of Warsaw) — owner for 2.5 years
Gym Box 9×3, private gym next to the house, trains 5 times a week
“I got the container in 2022 thinking it was a stopgap — something to use until I built a garage. Two and a half years on, the container is still here and the garage never happened, because… why would it? Everything I need is inside.
Kit: a power rack, free weights, a treadmill and a bike. Through winter it’s been faultless — the halogen heater brings it up to temperature in about 20 minutes. The one thing I’d change: I’d have ordered the version with a bigger window from the start. It was a touch dark, so I added some extra LED lighting. Other than that — zero problems.”
Joanna, Raszyn near Warsaw — owner for 1.5 years
Gym Box 8×3, on-site gym as a staff benefit at a small business
“I run a company with a team of a dozen or so. I bought the container as a perk for the staff — somewhere they could move after work. I genuinely didn’t know how they’d react. It turned out to be one of the most appreciated parts of the package — more so than a gym membership card, because it’s right here on site with no travel.
What would I do differently? I’d have planned the siting better — it ended up a bit further from the office than I wanted because I didn’t think it through before it was placed. But that’s a minor gripe. The product itself: solid, not a single fault in eighteen months.”
Tomasz and Kasia, Bielany Wrocławskie (near Wrocław) — owners for 3 years
Gym Box 11×3, gym for the family and friends, occasional small group sessions
“Three years in and we’re still very happy. We went for the biggest model because I knew the two of us would train together and friends would sometimes drop round. Glad we did — at 11 metres long there’s genuinely room for three or four people at once.
Only real note: the air conditioning we fitted from day one was the best decision — summer sessions would have been hard without it. We don’t regret a penny of what we spent.”
We stopped building the 11×3 in 2026 — the closest size today is the Gym Box 7×5.
Paweł, near Łódź — owner for 1 year
Gym Box 8×3, private gym on a weekend plot
“I’ve got a plot about 20 km outside Łódź that I go to at weekends. I put the container in so I wasn’t hunting for a local gym every Saturday and Sunday. The first year flew by.
What pleasantly surprised me: the speed. I signed the contract and six weeks later the container was standing and ready to train in. I’d braced myself for more paperwork and trouble with the groundworks, but the Gym Assistance team handled the lot.
What would I change? I’d have added a free-standing pull-up bar straight away — the one on the rack is fine, but I like doing muscle-ups and there isn’t quite enough clearance around it.”
Agnieszka, near Gdańsk — owner for 2 years

“I started out rehabbing after an ACL reconstruction and I didn’t want to go to a gym or physio every other day. The container solved it — I can train when I want, for as long as I want, without feeling like I’m hogging a machine.
Two years on, my training is back to full intensity and the container is still doing its job. The rubber flooring is in perfect condition and the kit has had no faults at all. The only thing: over summer I had to add external blinds on the west-facing windows — the sun really heated the place up after 3pm.”
What comes up again and again?
Read across all the feedback and a handful of themes recur regardless of the owner, location or model:
The positives:
- Speed of delivery — owners are surprised the whole process takes just 12 weeks from the deposit to the first workout. (More on that in our lead-time guide.)
- No technical problems — across 1–3 years of use, not one structural fault with the container itself
- Convenience — a gym with no commute and no queue for the kit is something owners simply won’t give up
- No regrets about the spend — owners describe the module as a permanent asset on the property, not as a way to save on membership fees
Worth thinking about up front:
- Air conditioning and ventilation — several owners added it later; better to spec it from the start. See our HVAC guide.
- Siting — once it’s placed, a container isn’t easy to shift; think through orientation and access before delivery
- Lighting — with smaller windows, extra LEDs are all but essential

Any regrets?
None of the five owners above regrets the purchase. The changes they mention are small: a bigger window, AC from day one, or a touch more thought on siting.
