Glasgow gets around 170 wet days a year and winters that routinely drop below freezing. That is exactly the climate a Gym Box is engineered for: a sealed, insulated, heated training room in your own garden, ready every day regardless of the weather coming off the Clyde.
Delivery Across Glasgow and the Central Belt
We deliver to the full Greater Glasgow area and across the Scottish Central Belt:
- Greater Glasgow – East Kilbride, Paisley, Renfrew, Clydebank, Hamilton, Motherwell, Bearsden
- Edinburgh & Lothians – Edinburgh city, Livingston, Dalkeith, Musselburgh, South Queensferry
- Stirling & Falkirk – Stirling, Bridge of Allan, Larbert, Falkirk, Grangemouth
- Ayrshire – Kilmarnock, Troon, Ayr, Prestwick
Delivery and installation are included in the project price for all locations within approximately 80 km of Glasgow city centre — which covers the full Central Belt. For Highlands and Borders projects we calculate transport individually; ask when requesting a quote.
Built for the Scottish Climate
A Glasgow winter is a real test for any outdoor structure. The Gym Box is engineered specifically for it:
- Wall insulation: 100 mm mineral wool or PUR foam — U-value comparable to a modern extension
- Floor insulation: 80 mm XPS under sport flooring — no cold-bridge from the ground up
- Heating: electric panel heater or air-conditioning unit (heat-pump) sized for –10 °C ambient
- Roof: double-skin sandwich panel with sealed seams — no leaks, no condensation
- Corrosion protection: triple-coat steel frame as standard, suitable for coastal Ayrshire and Clyde estuary humidity
In practice: a 24 m² Gym Box in Glasgow heats to a comfortable 18 °C in around 20 minutes from cold, and holds it on roughly 1.5 kW of electric heating.
Planning Permission in Scotland
Scottish planning law differs from England — the framework is the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997 and the General Permitted Development (Scotland) Order. The good news: for most residential gardens in Glasgow, Edinburgh and the Central Belt a container gym qualifies as a permitted development outbuilding. The key conditions:
- The structure is placed in the rear garden
- It does not occupy more than 50% of the curtilage area
- Height does not exceed 2.5 m within 2 m of a boundary (or 4 m further away)
- The property is not listed and the garden is not in a designated Conservation Area
Glasgow specifics: Glasgow City Council has Article 4 Directions removing permitted development rights in parts of the West End and Park Conservation Area — we check the postcode for you free of charge before quoting. Edinburgh has similar restrictions in the New Town and Old Town World Heritage zones.

Why Glasgow Clients Choose Gym Box
Scottish gym memberships average £40–£80 per month at the better Glasgow studios; add a 20–30 minute commute either side, parking, and gym contracts you don’t want over the long Scottish winter — and the case for a private home gym writes itself.
A Gym Box breaks even against a Glasgow gym membership in roughly 20–28 months, after which every session is free. Gardens in suburban Glasgow (Bearsden, Newton Mearns, Bishopbriggs, Bothwell) and Edinburgh outer areas (Balerno, Cramond, Currie) typically have ample space for the 24–35 m² range.
